Welcome to Day 2 . . .

Today we will be even more focused in preparing you for life without tobacco.  You will hear about the possibility of reversing poor health conditions you may have or preventing potential health problems often encountered as a result of using tobacco.

Today we will help you do concrete things to prepare for Day One of Freedom.

It is exciting!  Like getting ready for a trip . . . an adventure!  Get your Workbook in hand, retrieve a pencil or pen, settle in a quiet spot to watch your video.

By now you have recognized that there is a serious tone to this program . . . you are going to be asked to make a Commitment.

So, just what is a Commitment?  What/How much does that require of me?  Maybe you are thinking, "If I knew more about it, I would know what to do next. "Well, we have planted here a little tutorial about that.

So, download the file here and read through it.  There is a short self-inventory for you to complete.  It is necessary for the coaching session of Day 3.

Social Support

Reflection On My Social Support

Many times it is difficult to make a life change alone . . . Having someone to share your thoughts with and to give you encouragement is a benefit to success.  That is why we designed this intervention to assure a prepared Mentor and later a Phone Coach for your support.  Beyond that, a friend, neighbor, family member, or co-worker who is a non-tobacco product user is strongly recommended.  That is why we have included the form below for you to reflect on and consider.  Once you have, we suggest you discuss it with your Mentor.

To lend me emotional support—who is a non-tobacco user -- I have:

a. more than one other significant person interested in my efforts to quit forever

b. at least one significant other to help me

c. no one

 1. Whom can you really count on to help you out of a crisis situation, even though he/she would have to go out of their way to do so?

First Name/Relationship to You:

2. Whom can you talk with frankly without being careful about what you say?

Name/Relationship to You:

3. With whom can you be totally yourself?

Name/Relationship to You:

4. Whom can you count on to listen openly and uncritically to your innermost feelings?

Name/Relationship to You:

5. Whom can you really count on to tell you, in a thoughtful manner, when you need to improve in some way?

Name/Relationship to You:

6. If you have identified someone like this, is this person:

_____ available to you

_____ spouse

_____ other

_____ non-smoker

7. Would you be willing to enter into a contractual relationship with this person for support to quit tobacco use?   Yes,  No

Spiritual Dimension

God's Word, the Bible, is a treasure trove of promises of loving encouragement and resources for us when we face difficult situations.  You may have fears about making the change in your lifestyle at this time . . .

Take courage from this:
Isaiah 41:13 (NIV)
"For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you."
